Salam Alaikum dear brothers and sisters,
Hope you’re all enjoying a peaceful weekend.
Welcome new member to the group.
Just a short but powerful REMINDER today.
In our Sunday class with the sisters, we spoke about how important it is to first open up with yourself—and then with your spouse. Even when we try to hide our emotions or dissatisfaction, our energy/ vibes speaks louder than words. Even the most inattentive husband can sense when something isn’t right.
So let’s not pretend everything is okay. Let’s learn how to communicate openly and with kindness—*both husbands and wives.*
It’s a shared responsibility, and both hearts matter.
Thoughts, words, and actions all carry power. Word can heal and protect, word can destroy.
One small shift that makes a big difference in communication is replacing:
“Yes, but…” (which often blocks connection)
with
“Yes, and…” (which builds on what’s said and creates unity).
Examples from real life:
1. Weekend Plans
Partner A: “I’d love to go hiking this weekend.”
Partner B:
– “Yes, but I have so much work.” (Feels like rejection)
– “Yes, and maybe we can go Sunday so I can work Saturday.” (Keeps connection)
2. Emotional Sharing
Partner A: “I’ve been feeling distant from you lately.”
Partner B:
– “Yes, but you’ve been so busy.” (Dismissive)
– “Yes, and I’ve felt that too—let’s reconnect.” (Validating)
3. Finances
Partner A: “We should cut back on eating out.”
Partner B:
– “Yes, but it’s the only fun thing we do.” (Defensive)
– “Yes, and maybe we can cook something special at home.” (Teamwork)
The way we speak either creates distance or closeness.
“Yes, but” can block love.
“Yes, and” can build it.
It’s just and examples. Adapt this information to your situations and your feelings.
Also, let’s be more attentive to the vibes we bring, not just the words we say.
Brothers and sisters—don’t rush to speak or reply. Slow down. Breathe. Respond at your own calm, intentional pace.
A QUESTION TO REFLECT NOW:
✅ Do you and your spouse have regular, intentional, meaningful conversations?
✅*Or are you just moving through routines, somehow… just getting things done?*
Not just about groceries, bills, or the kids—*but about your feelings, your connection, your goals, your inner world.*
Your answer says a lot about the state of your relationship and connection.
No doubt—if you’re feeling distant, frustrated, or unsatisfied in relationship … this might be a big reason why.
May Allah SWT help us to pronounce right words right time and deepen our understanding. InshaAllah ❤️
Duas for all of you. 🤲🏻
