Salam Alaikum, sisters and brothers,
I hope you are all feeling well today.
TODAY’S REMINDER: First, YOU ARE A COUPLE —then, you are parents.
Your roles as partners and parents are both important, but they should never be mixed. ‼️
The love, respect, and connection you nurture as a couple create a secure and happy environment for your children.
Remember, your children don’t just see parents—they see two adults modeling what a relationship should be. The way you treat each other teaches them about love, patience, and respect—the relationship between two different people, two genders.
You are the first role models for your children, teaching them Respect & Kindness, Communication & Conflict Resolution, Teamwork & Support, and Affection & Emotional Security through your actions and relationship.
That’s why it’s essential to separate your roles: be devoted parents, but also loving and supportive partners.
One day, your children will grow up and start their own lives, but your relationship will remain. Invest in it, grow together, and strengthen your bond. A strong couple builds a strong family, but also a lasting partnership for life.
REFLECT:
As a couple, what skills do you feel your relationship has taught your kids in terms of respect, communication, teamwork, and emotional security?
If you feel there’s a gap, reflect individually:
What skills do you think you’re personally lacking in these areas?
Take time to switch to critical thinking, notice, and reflect. The most important thing is acknowledging whether you or your partner feel there’s something missing.
It’s always good to write it down for yourself. Writing helps clarify your thoughts, reflect on your feelings, and track personal growth. It’s a powerful tool for identifying areas where improvement is needed and setting clear goals.
May Allah bless and guide us all. Take care and stay well. ❤️
