We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Salam Alaikum dear Sisters,
I hope you are feeling well today. 🌸
Today is Thursday again, a reminder to pause and pay attention to our bodies.
Many people nowadays suffer from REFLUX or acid-related symptoms. Most recognise it as a burning sensation in the chest or throat. While doctors often focus on reducing symptoms through medication and improving diet ( and it’s important ) today I would like to draw attention to the psychosomatic and spiritual dimension of reflux.
Reflux is often described as stomach acid rising upward, but it is not only a physical condition. Very often, it is a quiet emotional story of something that never truly settled inside.
The body is saying:
“This was too much. I could not accept it.”
From a psychosomatic perspective, reflux is frequently linked to unexpressed anger, crossed boundaries, and situations that were accepted outwardly without inner agreement. Something unjust, hurtful, or overwhelming was “swallowed” for the sake of peace, survival, or obedience, but the soul did not consent.
From an Islamic perspective, this matters deeply. Allah SWT did not create us to live in constant inner burning. The Qur’an calls us to balance, justice, and truth expressed with wisdom. Patience (ṣabr) in Islam is not silent self-destruction, and obedience is never meant to erase dignity.
Very often, reflux reflects moments when:
• a “no” was not allowed to be spoken,
• anger was suppressed instead of expressed with adab,
• boundaries were crossed in the name of peace,
• obedience replaced conscience,
• fear of people outweighed trust in Allah SWT.
At that point, the body takes over the role of protector.
Reflux is not asking us to add medication alone it is often asking us to release emotional weight:
• suppressed anger that was never voiced truthfully,
• guilt for emotions you were taught to deny,
• obedience that became self-erasure rather than faith,
• responsibility that was never yours to carry,
• situations accepted without consent or justice.
Islam does not call this patience -Islam calls this imbalance.
Allah SWT allows us to release what harms the heart, even when it was once accepted outwardly. When truth is gently restored, the body no longer needs to burn in order to defend the soul.
Real care is not only about what we add, but about what we finally allow ourselves to release.
May Allah SWT grant us balance, healing, and hearts that no longer need to burn.🤲🏻
Wishing you all peace.❤️
