We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️

Salam Alaikum dear brothers and sisters.
Warm welcome to our new member who recently joined our group!
How are you all feeling today?

Today, I want to share a reflection about serving guests and the spirit of hospitality in our homes.

Many women have been complaining to me about this, saying things like:

“My husband gets upset if I don’t want to cook when guests come,”
or,
“I feel tired and pressured because I’m expected to prepare so many dishes for guests.”

And at the same time, I’ve also heard brothers saying:

“My wife doesn’t want to serve when guests visit.”

Both sides have valid feelings.
But maybe we all need to pause and remember the real essence of serving others.

When we read about the blessed home of the Prophet pbuh, we see that Khadijah (RA) and Aisha (RA) used to serve the Prophet’s guests, but not because he demanded biryanis, multiple dishes, or lavish feasts.
They served simple things-dates, milk, water -yet these humble offerings carried immense barakah, because they came from sincere, loving hearts.

🌿 The act of giving itself was what mattered.
Not the size of the plate, not the decoration, not the competition -but the intention and love behind it.

And dear brothers and sisters, this reflection is about our usual family situations -the everyday visits, the casual guests, the normal days at home.
Of course, when there’s a special occasion or a party that both husband and wife plan together, that’s something different - that’s teamwork and joy. But even in those special moments or bigger gatherings, simplicity should still be number one.
Because simplicity carries barakah - it allows the heart to give with love, not with exhaustion.
And when we are talking about regular hospitality that should bring peace, not pressure. 🌹

Today, we lose that simplicity.
Hospitality becomes stress instead of joy.
We want to impress, not bless.

✨ And about the picture 🦓:
Imagine a horse dressed like a zebra - covered in patterns that hide its natural beauty.
Sometimes, that’s us.
We dress up our lives, our homes, and even our hospitality so much that we forget the beauty of being simple and sincere.

Real beauty lies in warmth, not in the number of dishes on the table. It’s in the smile that greets a guest, in the “Bismillah, please have some dates,” in the peace of a welcoming home.

💫 And dear brothers and sisters, many of us carry the fear - “What will people think?” - and we don’t even realise that it’s not a trauma, it’s something we were taught. We learned to worry about appearances more than authenticity.
But it’s time to break this cycle. 🌿
The most important thing is your sincere heart and pure intention.

Let’s all return to the simplicity of our Prophet pbuh and his noble family - who found joy in giving, peace in modesty, and honor in sincerity.
Let’s return to the Sunnah of simplicity. Encourage kindness without pressure. Appreciate effort without demanding perfection.
And remember - it’s not the food that fills hearts, it’s the love that serves it. ❤️

May Allah SWT fill our homes with barakah, ease, and sincerity in every act of giving. 🤲🏻

With love and du‘a,
Your sister Maryam
