This method actually works beautifully for kids too.
Children often feel blamed very quickly when you point at them directly (“You didn’t clean up your toys!”). But if you “blame” the funny imaginary helper instead, they don’t feel attacked. Instead, they laugh and at the same time, they become aware of what needs to be done.

If toys left on the floor: “Oh no, it looks like Uncle Lazy forgot to clean the toys again!”
