Salam Alaikum, dear sisters. 🌸 I hope you are feeling better and better Alhamdulillah.
Sorry for not texting about body yesterday.
So today about body and emotional detox plan a bit later.
*DETOXIFICATION*🥝. Today, I’d like to share some knowledge about it with you through the lens of both science and mindful living.
In today’s wellness culture, words like “detox,” “cleanse,” “liver flush,” and “juice fasting” have become buzzwords, often promising quick results and miraculous transformation. From expensive detox kits to restrictive juice-only diets, we’re often encouraged to believe that our bodies need constant “deep cleaning.” But here is the truth:
📌 Detoxification is not something triggered by a magical pill or a 3-day internet challenge.
It is a continuous, intricate biological process happening every moment inside us, not just in the liver, as many think.
Real detox is not a shortcut, it’s a sustainable lifestyle strategy.
Toxins are substances that can disrupt or damage our cells. They may be:
• External (exogenous): pollution, heavy metals, plastics (like BPA), pesticides, additives, alcohol, smoking, and medication residues.
• Internal (endogenous): natural byproducts of metabolism, such as hormone excess, gut bacterial toxins, and neurotransmitter breakdown compounds.
✅ Our bodies are created by Allah ﷻ with incredible systems to neutralize and eliminate these toxins. However, in today’s environment, filled with chemicals and stressors, these systems can become overwhelmed, leading to accumulation and potential chronic health issues.
❌ 3 Common Myths about Detox:
1. “Toxins accumulate in the liver.”
This is false. The liver processes toxins, but they mostly accumulate in fat tissue, not the liver itself. Accumulation may lead to inflammation, hormonal imbalance, fatigue, or digestive discomfort.
2. “Only plant-based diets support detox.”
While fiber-rich vegetables are important, amino acids (from protein) and nutrients like iron and vitamin B12 (found in animal products) are critical for liver detoxification pathways. A truly supportive detox diet includes quality proteins and colorful, antioxidant-rich plant foods.
3. “Only the liver is responsible for detox.”
In truth, many organs play a role:
• Lungs remove airborne toxins via breathing
• Kidneys excrete water-soluble toxins through urine
• Skin eliminates waste through sweat
• Lymphatic system transports cellular waste
• Gut expels toxins through stool via bile.
When any of these pathways slow down, toxins can recirculate.
✔️ So how do we support the body’s natural detox – without falling for myths or adds?
Detox is not an event – it’s a daily rhythm. ‼️
And when we live in harmony with our body, the body heals and cleanses as it was designed to.
🥦 Nutrition: Support detox pathways with foods like cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage), garlic, organic eggs, flaxseeds, fermented foods, ginger.
💧 Water: Drink at least 30 ml/kg daily, hydration is vital for elimination.
🔥 Movement & sweat: Exercise, sauna, dry brushing, and lymphatic massage activate the lymph system.
🚫 Reduce toxic load: Choose organic food when possible, use glass instead of plastic, opt for natural cosmetics, and reduce pollutants. Obviously addiction to smoking, even passive smoking, 🚬, alcohol ect should be eliminated.
🌙 Rest deeply: The brain detoxifies at night, especially before midnight. Sleep before 23:00 supports neurological recovery.
🧴 Supplements (as needed): If the foundation is strong, add-ons like phospholipids, silymarin (milk thistle) can further support liver and cellular function.
Hijama (cupping therapy) is often considered a form of detox.
So, let’s stop trying to “cleanse” our bodies as if they are broken. Instead, *let us support them lovingly and consistently, the way Allah ﷻ intended with balance, intention, and care.*🕊️
And how do you know if your body is detoxing well?
It’s not just about tests, your body tells you through how you feel.
✅ Clear mind
✅ Steady energy
✅ Healthy digestion
✅ Clear skin
✅ Good sleep
✅ No bloating or strange reactions
When detox pathways are working, you feel balanced, resilient, and light.
*Listen to your body, it speaks before labs do.*🌿✨
Wishing all of you blessed Friday and please remember that your physical body needs balanced care.❤️
