We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️

Salam Alaikum dear sisters, I hope you all are feeling better and better InshaAllah.

Like I texted yesterday in the couples’ group, it’s been a while since I last shared something, not because I had nothing to say, but because I’ve learned not to rush. Every message has its own time, and wisdom comes when hearts are ready to share and to listen.
Dear sisters, the one of the most important things in self development is to slow down and align with your own pace. Protect your natural speed, and don’t allow people, world or your own fears to rush you. Everything unfolds when Allah SWT wills, everything you’ll get and achieve, and peace comes when we move with the rhythm He has written for us.
InshaAllah, this Thursday I’ll be posting something about our bodies, but before that, I wanted to share a short reflection that may help us understand our loved ones better.
The people around us, our husbands, children, or friends , may think, feel, or experience the world differently than we do. One example of this is something called APHANTASIA -a condition where a person cannot visualise images in their mind.
That means when they close their eyes, they can’t picture faces, places, or memories, even though they can remember and understand everything clearly. It’s not laziness or lack of imagination; it’s simply how Allah SWT created their minds. And it’s important to remember *aphantasia is not a disability*‼️, but a natural variation in how people think.

Studies show that around 2–5% of people in the world have aphantasia, that’s nearly 160 to 400 million people! Many don’t even realise it until they learn that others can “see” pictures in their mind.
Learning about aphantasia helps us show more compassion and patience in our homes. It reminds us that:

🌸*Every mind is different* -some people think in pictures, others in words or feelings.

🌸When we understand these differences, we communicate better and avoid misunderstandings.

🌸Children or husbands with aphantasia might need different ways of learning or expressing emotion and that’s okay.

🌸Appreciating these differences helps us see the beauty of Allah’s diverse creation.

👶 You may ask how to notice it in children. I’ll send test bellow for adults and older children but there are some signs that your child might have aphantasia include:

🌸 When asked to “imagine” something, they say they can’t see anything in their mind.

🌸*They may describe thoughts with words or logic, not pictures*.

🌸They might struggle with drawing from imagination but do well copying real images.

🌸*They often rely on facts, sounds, or emotions rather than visual memory.*

If you notice these things, don’t worry it’s not a problem to fix, but simply how Allah SWT designed their thinking. You can support them by using clear explanations, real examples, and kind encouragement.
So if someone close to you doesn’t seem to “picture” things the way you do, don’t be upset or confused. Instead, show kindness and understanding. Allah SWT made each of us unique, with our own strengths and ways of processing the world.

Let’s continue to support one another with empathy, patience, and mercy - because rahmah (mercy) begins at home. ❤️
