We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Salam Alaikum dear Sisters🌸, I hope you are all feeling well today, InshAllah.
Lately, I can see more and more people becoming aware of themselves, their health, their habits, and the choices they make every day. And the more I observe, the more I realise that the biggest truths are often found in the simplest things.
I remember when I first started teaching classes and speaking about simple tools that could help women feel better in their bodies. Often, someone would ask, “But where is the tool?” They were expecting something special, something complicated, something to buy, learn, or add to their lives.
But that was exactly the point.
The things that truly support us are often so simple that we overlook them. They have been forgotten because they are not heavily marketed, they do not create dependency, and they do not cost anything. Yet many of these simple practices were part of our ancestors’ everyday wisdom.
*Movement is one of them.*❣️
We often think that improving our health must involve intense workouts, gym memberships, strict programs, or complicated dietary plans. Those can certainly be helpful, but they are only additional tools. What matters just as much-if not more-is how we live throughout the rest of our day.
How much do we move around our homes?
How often do we change positions?
How aware are we of our own patterns and habits?
Some people naturally move all day long. They cook, clean, organise, carry things, walk around, and rarely stay in one place for very long. Others are naturally more still and enjoy sitting, reading, working, or resting. Both are completely okay.
But regardless of our personality, our bodies need movement.
The body was not designed to remain in one position for hours at a time. The healthiest position is often the next position. ❣️
Standing, sitting, walking, stretching, bending, reaching-our bodies thrive when we regularly change how we use them.
In my classes, we often talk about posture and body positioning. Sometimes we even measure the position of the crown of the head and observe how the body organises itself around it. What seems like a small detail can influence so many aspects of our wellbeing. Yet even there, one of the greatest principles remains surprisingly simple: do not stay in one position for too long.
✅*Move.*
✅*Change position.*
✅*Shift your weight.*
✅*Stand up.*
✅*Walk around.*
✅*Stretch.*
These simple actions cost nothing, yet they can make an enormous difference over time.
This is also where NEAT-Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis - comes into the picture. It represents all the calories we burn through everyday movement outside of formal exercise.
Walking while talking on the phone, carrying groceries, cooking dinner, tidying a room, playing with children, gardening, dancing while cooking in the kitchen- every movement counts.
Not because we are trying to burn calories, but because movement is one of the body’s fundamental needs.
Dear sisters, sometimes the answers we are looking for are not hidden in the next program, supplement, or fitness trend. Sometimes they are waiting for us in the simple wisdom we have forgotten.
❤️ Move a little more.
❤️ Become aware of your patterns.
❤️ Trust simplicity.
Your body is always speaking to you. The question is: are you listening?
