We for You | Daily Reflection | by Maryam ❤️

Assalamu alaikum dear Brothers and Sisters,

I’ve been quiet for a while, not because there was nothing to say, but because sometimes life becomes loud inside. Emotions, responsibilities, inner struggles… all at once. In those moments, our capacity feels stretched–mentally, emotionally, even spiritually.

But, Allah SWT created us with the ability to adjust, reset, and return. And here we are again, InshAllah growing–within our capacity, not beyond it.

And maybe that’s where this story begins…

💭 Once upon a time…

There lived a girl and a boy.

They grew up in different homes, different stories, different wounds…
The girl learned to stay quiet when things hurt.
The boy learned to protect himself by pulling away.

Life shaped them quietly. No one really saw it.
They became strong… but also guarded.

Years passed, and by the will of Allah, they met… and they got married 🤍
They thought they were starting a new story.

But marriage didn’t just bring love.
It brought closeness… and with closeness, everything hidden slowly came to the surface.

So in their arguments, it wasn’t just two adults speaking.

It was *the little girl who was never heard*…
And the little boy who was never understood.

And this is the part we often miss:

👉 In marriage, you’re not only loving your spouse…
You’re also meeting their inner child, their past, their unhealed spaces.

💭 And this is where capacity comes in…

In marriage, it’s not always about what we are capable of…
It’s about what we have the capacity for in that moment.

You may be capable of patience, kindness, understanding…
But when you’re overwhelmed, tired, or triggered-your capacity shrinks.

*So what looks like “attitude*”…
might actually be emotional exhaustion.

*What looks like “distance”*…
might actually be self-protection.

Allah SWT reminds us that no soul is burdened beyond what it can bear.
So sometimes your spouse is not refusing… they are just full.

And psychologically, *when emotions rise, the thinking mind quiets down*…So in those moments, we don’t respond-we react.

In difficult moments, it’s rarely just about the issue…
It’s about how safe we feel while talking about it.

The Prophet pbuh didn’t use harshness to win arguments, he used gentleness to win hearts.

So maybe the shift is this:

Instead of trying to be right…
try to be safe for each other

Instead of:
❌ “You never listen!”
Say:
✅ “I feel unheard right now… can we slow down?”

Instead of:
❌ pulling away completely
Say:
✅ “I need a moment, but I’m still here.”

Instead of:
❌ “Why are you like this?”
Say:
✅ “What he/she is carrying and trying to say?”

Because sometimes your spouse doesn’t need a solution…
they need to feel held, not judged.

Marriage doesn’t fix what’s inside us… it reveals it.

Sit with yourself and ask:

When I’m hurt, what do I do?

Do I shut down, attack, or avoid?

Is this coming from now… or from something older?

Because one day, someone will love you…
and they will meet not just who you are today,
but everything you’ve carried.

Love is not about always being calm.
It’s about knowing how to find your way back to each other.

And marriage is not just two people…
It’s two pasts, two inner worlds, learning to feel safe in the same space.

And the strongest relationships?

They are not perfect…

They are the ones where two people keep choosing each other,
even when their capacity is low…
even when it’s hard…
even when their inner child is still learning to heal.

*May Allah SWT expand our hearts, heal what is unseen within us, and place deep sakinah, mercy, and understanding between all couples.*🤲🏻
