It’s okay to not be the “perfect” Muslimah 🌿
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh dear sisters 🤍
Can I remind you of something gently today?
You do not have to become the “perfect Muslimah” overnight 🌙
I think sometimes we quietly carry this pressure.
To suddenly:
- pray perfectly 🌱
- never struggle again 🤍
- always have high iman 🌙
- always be patient 🛡️
- never make mistakes
- never feel overwhelmed.
And when we inevitably fall short…
We feel guilty.
Like we’re failing.
Like everyone else has somehow figured out this deen better than we have 🌿
But sis…
Growth was never meant to happen all at once.
Maybe you:
- returned to prayer 🌙
- gave up a sin 🛡️
- fought your nafs today 🌱
- made sincere tawbah 🤲
- opened the Qur’an after months 📖
- whispered Astaghfirullah through tears 🤍
Do not belittle that.
Because we are often so hard on ourselves.
Yet if another Muslimah came to us carrying the same guilt…
Would we call her a failure?
No.
We would tell her:
“You’re doing good.” 🤍
“Allah sees your effort.” 🌱
“He sees how hard you are trying.” 🌙
“He sees the struggle nobody else knows about.” 🤲
“He loves those who return to Him.” 🤍
So why are we sometimes gentler with everyone else than we are with ourselves?
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Every son of Adam sins, and the best of those who sin are those who repent.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah 4251 — Hasan)
SubhanAllah.
Not the perfect.
Not the flawless.
The ones who return 🤍
And honestly… I think many of us need to stop confusing struggling with failing.
Struggling doesn’t mean your iman is fake.
Struggling doesn’t mean Allah doesn’t love you.
Struggling doesn’t mean you are a bad Muslimah.
Sometimes struggling means:
You are still trying 🌱
You prayed even though your heart felt heavy 🌙
You made du’a even while doubting yourself 🤲
You lowered your gaze even though temptation existed 🛡️
You repented even after slipping again 🤍
You came back to Allah—again.
That matters.
Wallahi, it matters.
Allah ﷻ says:
“Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves.”
(Qur’an 2:222)
Look at that mercy 🌿
Allah did not say:
“I love the perfect.”
He loves the ones who keep returning.
So if you’ve been hard on yourself lately…
Pause for a moment 🤍
Speak to yourself the way you would speak to another struggling Muslimah.
With honesty.
With hope.
With mercy.
Then keep going 🌱
Keep praying 🌙
Keep repenting 🤲
Keep learning 📖
Keep trying 🤍
Even slowly.
Even imperfectly.
Because maybe the Muslimah Allah loves most is not the one who never struggles…
But the one who never stops returning 🤍
May Allah soften our hearts, forgive our shortcomings, and make us from the women who keep returning to Him no matter how many times we fall. Ameen 🌿
