We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️

Salam Alaikum dear Sisters,🌸
I hope you are all feeling better and better, InshaAllah.

Here’s an interesting story from psychology:

In the 1980s, psychologist Gary Klein studied experienced firefighters and noticed something surprising. The most experienced firefighters often sensed danger before they could explain why. Sometimes they would suddenly order everyone out of a building moments before a collapse.

When asked how they knew, many couldn’t immediately explain it. Their minds had unconsciously noticed patterns and warning signs that others missed.

Psychology calls this pattern recognition.

It reminds me that growth often begins when we pay attention to the things we would rather ignore. Sometimes our discomfort is trying to tell us something important.

Maybe that’s why I appreciate approaches that challenge me to think differently rather than simply confirm what I already believe.

I don’t particularly enjoy people sugar-coating things for me. Perhaps it’s because I already spend a lot of time reflecting on myself and exploring my own patterns. What I value is someone who can honestly challenge my thinking and help me see what I might be missing.

Have any of you come across Provocative Therapy?

It’s not about judging, shaming, or attacking people. It’s about using humour, challenge, irony, and insight to help someone look at themselves from a different perspective.

Sometimes it makes you laugh.

Sometimes it irritates you.

Sometimes it makes you think,

“Ouch… that’s actually true.”

But often, that’s where growth begins.

One of the things I appreciate most about this approach is that it’s not only about keeping people comfortable. It’s about helping people become more aware. Of course, it only works when it’s balanced with warmth, empathy, and genuine care. Without that, it’s just criticism.

If you wouldn’t feel comfortable with this kind of challenging approach, here’s something to think about:

What if the biggest obstacle in your life isn’t out there somewhere?

What if it’s the one thing you’ve been avoiding looking at within yourself?

And what if seeing that truth could be the first step towards real freedom and positive change?

Growth often comes from being challenged, not just comforted.

Food for thought. 😊
