We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Assalamu Alaikum, dear Sisters 🌸
I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful summer days and finding some time to rest, recharge and enjoy the sunshine. ☀️🌿
First of all, a very warm welcome to all our new sisters who have recently joined us. 🌸We are so happy to have you here.
I know this group has been a little quieter lately, but please know that I haven’t forgotten about you. ❤️ Recently, much of my time has been dedicated to my work with another helpline and supporting clients privately, so it has been a particularly busy period. But our sisterhood remains very close to my heart, and InshaAllah we will continue learning, sharing and supporting one another. 🌷
Today I wanted to share a little reminder about our emotions , from both a psychological and Islamic perspective. 💭🤍
Our emotions are important signals, but they don’t always give us the complete picture. Sometimes our emotional state can be influenced by hunger, tiredness, stress, loneliness, hormones, our environment or what we have been carrying emotionally.
Islam also doesn’t teach us that experiencing sadness, fear, grief or worry means that our iman is weak. Difficult emotions are part of being human. What matters is are we alow to feel them, how we understand them, respond to them and seek appropriate help when we need it.
💡 If everyone is irritating you -check in with your body first.
Are you hungry, thirsty, tired or overstimulated? Sometimes irritability can be a sign that a basic need hasn’t been met. If you’re genuinely hungry, nourish yourself; if not, notice what else you may need.
💡 If it feels like everyone dislikes you - check how tired or emotionally overwhelmed you are.
When we’re exhausted or stressed, we may interpret situations more negatively. Rest if you need it, and then look at the situation again with a clearer mind.
💡 If your mind is overflowing with thoughts -put some of them onto paper. ✍️
Writing can help us organise our thoughts and create some mental space. Then ask yourself: Which of these things can I act upon, and which do I need to entrust to Allah?
💡 If you feel lost -reach out to someone you trust. 📞
A supportive conversation won’t solve everything, but connection can help us feel less alone and sometimes see things from another perspective.
💡 If you find yourself repeatedly living in the past - gently bring yourself back to what you can do today.
Take the lessons you need, make tawbah or amends where appropriate, and allow yourself to continue moving forward. We cannot change yesterday, but we can influence what we do today.
💡 If you’re anxious about the future -return your attention to the present.
Ask yourself: What is actually within my control today or even this moment? What is one realistic step I can take? Take the practical means available to you and entrust what you cannot control to Allah. 🤲🏻
💡 If you’re feeling that you’re not good enough - question the thought rather than automatically believing it. 🌷
Remember your strengths, efforts, values and even your smallest achievements. Your worth is not determined by people’s approval or criticism.
💡 *If everything feels out of control*- focus on one small thing that is within your control.
Complete one manageable task, make yourself a cup of tea, tidy a small space, take a shower, pray your salah or simply decide what your next step will be. Small actions can help restore a sense of direction.
💡 If you feel anxious or restless , notice what your body and heart may need. 🚶♀️🌿
A gentle walk, stretching, slow breathing or some fresh air may help settle the body, while salah, du’a and dhikr reconnect our hearts with Allah. 🤍
And yes, sometimes body is vibrating and needs stronger movement, then dance, do jumps or simply shake your hands.
Allah reminds us:
“Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.”
Qur’an 13:28🤍
This doesn’t mean that a person of strong faith will never experience anxiety, sadness or emotional difficulties. Experiencing difficult emotions is not necessarily a sign of weak iman.
💡 If you feel lonely -take one small step towards connection.
Message a friend, call a sister, attend a gathering, volunteer or spend time with people who make you feel safe and valued. Feeling lonely does not mean that you are unwanted or unloved. People want to connect and communicate with you.
And perhaps one of the most important reminders:
We simply need to allow the emotion to be there - to feel it, acknowledge it and listen to what it may be telling us, without judging ourselves for having it.
Ask yourself:
What am I feeling?
What might have triggered it?
What does my body need?
What is within my control?
Do I need rest, connection, practical action, spiritual grounding or additional support?
From an Islamic perspective, taking practical steps and relying upon Allah SWT are not opposites. We take the means available to us and place our trust in Allah. 🤲🏻
And if emotions become persistent, overwhelming or begin significantly interfering with everyday life, self-care alone may not be enough. Seeking appropriate professional support is a responsible step and can sit alongside our du’a, worship and reliance upon Allah SWT .
May Allah SWT bring sakinah to our hearts, ease our worries, strengthen our iman, bless our sisterhood and help us respond to ourselves and one another with wisdom, patience and compassion. Ameen. 🤲🏻
Sending you all a warm Friday hug. 🤗❤️ May you have a blessed and beautiful day in every way, InshaAllah. ☀️🌷
