Salam Alaikum sisters, 🌸hope you all are doing well.
As you know I studied psychosomatic illnesses recently and decided to study it more deeper beside all my jobs and other studies. So currently I’m extremely busy like you all, I believe, and will be texting not constantly. But will be continuing to share information and give you more practical tasks what you can apply to yourself and family life, to know yourself and kids more and become more and more conscious parent. When you become more conscious and cautious about yourself you become more positive and less fearful, anxious, stressed. Parenting is so much about us.
And if you are having any struggles with a children behaviour/their emotions- first where you need to search for a reason is in closest environment for the child. Children as well human beings and having many emotions and feelings during the day. But not having coping mechanisms and naturally by development their brains are working different. They don’t have skills and abilities to behave differently and if they had they definitely behave differently. So they can’t speed up their brain development and gain skills immediately if no one taught them or showed how to do it.
So TODAY about “ I don’t want to go to school” or “I don’t want to do homework”.
Evening. You are already relaxing after a long day, when suddenly your son comes up to you and says: "Mom, I don't want to go to school. I don't like it there." This is not the first time he has said this. You trying to explain how school is important ant that he has to go and want it... This situation is familiar to many parents and it can end up even having a fight with a child.
Children's reluctance to go to school can arise for various reasons: fear, insecurity, lack of self-confidence or communication/ friendship problems.
How to understand child's feelings?
The first step in solving any problem is to understand what is really going on. If a child says that he does not want to go to school first instead of saying “you must “, “everyone going to school”, “ you’ll meet your friends” start from questions:
"Did something happen at school that made you feel uncomfortable?" "Did something happen at school that made you sad or angry?" "How does it feel to be at school?" Is there something bothering you?”
These questions will help the child to talk about it. Try to listen without judgment or interruption and show understanding: "I understand that it can be difficult. Tell me what exactly is bothering you there." "I was also scared when I had to participate in test. Let's talk about it."
Once you understand what specifically worries your child, it will be easier to find appropriate solutions. I’ll text you some tips to help your child cope with worries InshaAllah.
