We for You | Daily Reflection | *by Maryam* ❤️
Salam Alaikum dear sisters.🌸
Hope you all are feeling better and better, InshaAllah.
As one sister asked, today I want to share about COLLAGEN, especially as it connects to yesterday’s topic that was supposed to be about our bodies. For those who have been waiting, here it is.
🧬 Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, forming skin, muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissues. Around 25-30 years of age, its natural production begins to slow, and the supplement industry uses this fact very effectively -especially targeting young women.
Collagen is important for muscles, joints, and skin, but nowadays people spend a lot of money on collagen supplements unnecessarily. Interestingly, previous generations didn’t take collagen powders or capsules, yet in old photos people don’t look especially wrinkled. So what has changed? In reality- nothing.
The truth is, when we drink collagen, it doesn’t go straight to our skin or joints. Like all proteins, it is first broken down in the digestive tract into amino acids. These amino acids then travel to the liver, which sends them where they are needed most -for vital functions such as immunity, hormones, digestion, or muscle repair. Only if there is enough protein in the diet will the “extra” amino acids be available for skin, hair, nails, or joints.
That’s why collagen supplements are not useless, but also not magic.
⚠️ And one more important point: for proteins to be digested properly, we need sufficient stomach acid (HCl) and the right gastric pH. Without good digestion, even the best quality collagen will not be absorbed efficiently and even hydrolysed collagen, which is already partly broken down and marketed as “better” collagen.
👉 Collagen MAY HELP (meaning it may not give the results you expect) if you are:
• Over 30
• Eating little protein (rarely meat, broth, gelatin)
• Recovering from an injury
• Living with bone or joint issues
👉 Collagen is unnecessary if you are:
• Under 30
• Eating enough protein daily
• Without bone or joint problems
❌ There are no strong studies proving collagen supplements benefit the skin more than simply eating enough high-quality protein. Most studies compare collagen use vs. no use at all. That’s like asking: “If I eat fruit, will I feel less hungry?” -of course you will, but many foods can do that.
So yes, collagen matters but supplements are only an extra.
And from my own experience, very few people, between 30-50 actually need to top up collagen. As long as they are not completely vegetarian or vegan, their normal diet usually provides enough. Vegetarians and vegans may have a harder time, because plant proteins don’t naturally provide as much glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline (the main amino acids of collagen). For them, supplements or carefully planned diets can be more relevant.
*The foundation is: a protein-rich diet + strong digestion (stomach acid and good pH) + vitamin C what is essential for collagen synthesis.*‼️
Dear sisters, as you can see, everything is best when it is natural and in balance.
*May Allah SWT make this Friday a source of more consciousness, balance, and light for you all.*❤️🤲🏻🌸
And for those who would like to try the Prophet’s pbuh favourite dish with natural collagen, I’m sharing a recipe with you all:

I believe most of you are already cooking similar dishes, and truly the greatest benefit we gain comes from simplicity.
Bread may have been prepared differently in the past, but never forget that your feminine vibes and intention brings the best taste. Bismillah!🌸
